Things to do in DC πŸ’ƒ Dance parties, flower workshops & volunteering

Did you know there are still lotus flowers and water lilies at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens? Definitely not as many as in July, but still worth the visit if you want to experience it in cooler weather!

Things to Know in DC

Florida Avenue used to be the northern border of the old city of Washington. When DC was first created, L'Enfant was charged with planning out the new capital city. That planned city's northwest border was below some steep hills and followed and existing road.

In this recreation of what the topography would have looked like in 1791, the old roads are overlaid, along with the new borders. It becomes clear why the border was placed there: the hill forms a natural barrier, especially for the horse & cart transportation of the day.

Volunteer with us!

If you're looking to be outdoors while making DC a more beautiful place, join us for a volunteer morning at Dumbarton Oaks Park!

Originally part of Dumbarton Oaks estate, it was designed by the first female landscape architect. Due to lack of funding, they need our help in preserving the beauty.

We're partnering with Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy, Spur Local, and City Girls Who Walk DC to do some good!

Join us on Saturday, September 21 at 9:00 AM. Spots are limited!

Things to Eat in DC

It's fun to see someone try something new, and I like to take my parents to try things that are new to them.

I took my parents to Atxondo in 14th/16th Street Heights this weekend, and my dad tried paella there for the first time, and he can't stop talking about it. It's added to the dad-approved favorites

  • Purple Patch in Mount Pleasant: Coconut-braised short rib Adobo
  • Axtondo in 16th Street Heights: Seafood paella
