Things I'm Talking About

  • I've been seeing more movies than usual lately.
    • Primetime was great
    • I got a sneak peek of Sense and Sensibility, which was a great adaptation (Fiona Shaw was my favorite as the distance aunt)
    • Nathan Fielder's documentary about Elizabeth Holmes comes out this weekend
    • They're re-releasing The Devils to theaters for a week starting on Friday.
  • Granville Moore's is closing at the end of the month, so go get your mussels while you can. This was the first restaurant I went to on H Street when I moved here back in 2007, and it's crazy to think it's closing.
  • This is the time of year to start planning your holiday volunteering. Here's my list from last year (which I will be updating!) of places that don't require a long term commitment.
  • Capital Checkers has been around for 40+ years, and over the past 6 years, has bounced around to different locations as their clubhouse was sold by their landlord. They lost their latest spot, a church basement, because the church is closing.
  • It's Howard Homecoming this weekend! While the parade has been postponed, other festivities are continuing. Expect a lot going on in Shaw and U Street and street closures around the campus.
  • Looking for vegan-friendly restaurants around DC? Maria from @mariasvegeats put together a list of some of her favorites!
    • This marks the start of having curators like Maria also put their recommendations on Not Bored, and I'm so excited!
    • If you are a creator and interested in sharing your recommendations, see how you can turn your posts into shareable recommendations.

  • Yes I've noticed (35.7%)
  • I thought something was different but didn't know what (7.1%)
