Buy Nothing groups are a great way to help those in your neighborhood and reduce waste. You can find a group in DC, Virginia, or Maryland.

Architect Samuel Plato was one of the few African Americans who were awarded government building contracts during World War II. Here he is seen with staff members working on the construction of Wake and Midway Halls, dormitories for more than 1,000 Black women working in DC during the war.
